So, I weighed the car today with a full tank and it was dead on at 2750 with driver. I’m trying to gauge how much fuel you guys typically burn off in a race so I know about how much ballast to run. I’ll most likely go the route of the spare tire in the trunk since that gets me a little closer to 50/50 balance.
How much fuel do you burn?
For the M20 engine operating at race rpm’s, plan a 12 Gal/Hr fuel burn rate. Typical race is 20 minutes. So 4-5 Gallons is a conservative estimate. The typical weight of gasoline (at 72 degrees F) is around 6.25# per gallon. Multiply 6.25 x 5 = and you get 31.25 Lbs. This is about how much you’ll loose per race give or take a few pounds.
Hope this helps

Now I know why your go by "Brain" That’s good information to know since I am real close to min. weight with a full tank too.
Finally had my car weighed as well. Still with cats and factory muffler, it weighed in at 2585 with about 9.5gal of fuel on board (no driver). It was at least 4% nose-heavy, something I’ve long suspected.
