Hans - quick disconnect or post anchor?

#1

Hi guys,

I’m ready to order my Hans and my only question is whether to get the post anchor or quick disconnect option. Any opinions which is better or worse? I have read quite a few good and bad posts for both versions.

Thanks.

I have and see no downsides to the quick disconnect.

You want the new Quick Click tethers. Much better than the previous Quick Disconnect system. The Quick Click and the latches hard mounted to the helmet and are much easier to connect.

It appears they have improved upon the old “quick disconnect” tether. The orange pull tabs on the older version were long enough to get caught under the shoulder straps, which could inadvertently disconnect the HANS from the helmet.

With the sliding tether system, I have less need to unhook the HANS unless I am getting out of the car. I practice emergency exits with the HANS connected so there is one less step to GTFO in the event of fire.

+1 - I have no problems in any of the cars I drive now that I use the sliding tether system. I would also recommend the post anchors in case you want to swap or onsell to someone, they are the normal choice (as far as I have seen).

I’ve got this version and have had this happen. Always have to be real careful when putting the belts on to make sure the tethers aren’t caught.

I applied small pieces of velcro to the ends of the tethers and velcro them to my helmet. There is no danger of getting caught beneath the belts and they are very easy to grab quickly.

Another vote here for the sliding tether.

Got a set of quick disconnects you can have for much cheaper than buying new. Can bring to Putnam.

Thanks for all the responses. I am definitely getting the sliding tethers. As for the disconnect, I’ll just have a look when I’m at putnam and try to make up my mind. On the hans website the quick click vs. anchor post is the same price when buying new.

I have the quick disconnects and never use them…
