I think I’d point out at this point with se30 spring rates you’re probably just destroying those expensive Hoosiers rather than getting a ton of benefit out of them. There are certainly some quickie changes that could be made to help a se30 be more competitive, but I think we’ll all still find ourselves right in the same ballpark in the supersize sessions anyhow.
There’s always PT as well, I haven’t created a build sheet for a se30 or looked too closely at the 2011 rules, but those rules tend to favor a less-built car unlike the GTS rules which favor a car with a 10K+ suspension and very carefully optimized power.
Might be worth a shot if I get a free moment or two before Feb 12th. :)
I’m not sure where you are getting that our spring rates would destroy a Hoosier? That tire runs a much stiffer sidewall than the Ra1 and would require less camber more than likely. They ran just wonderful on my showroom stock cars. I’d say those tires are worth between 1.5-2 full seconds faster than our tires.
They aren’t that much more expensive than a RA1 and are a far superior tire. They don’t wear quite like the Ra1 though.
How much is a set of shaved RA1’s? I can get a set of Hoosier R6’s for about $700. The R6 with a proper alignment and camber settings will net you about 8-10 sessions before they need to be thrown out. 8-10 40 minute sessions.
