GRM SpecE30 car picked up in SE

#21

The addition of Billy will add one more to the list of over-50 racers. We’ll see how good the geriatric crowd is for 2009.

We’ll also see if the slow-car-fast = fast-car-fast line of thinking holds true. He’s got a good car with the GRM machine and I’m confident that you’se guys will show him some close competition.

Robert (over 50, that’s my excuse for 2009) Patton

Good, fast and cheap. Pick two.[/quote]

Done you a lot good so far!:woohoo:

I know what cheap is (see any post by Brian or JP that has to do with letting go of a buck) and I’ve seen fast on tv (season 2 of the SetUp  ) but can you define “good”?

#24

To be clear, I did not intend for you simpletons to imply that I was good fast or cheap… or even two out of those three.

However, I believe “good” can be defined as 6th place, or also called “mediocre.”

Ok, I admit I do research the competition :).
From what I’ve found he’s had solid results in a TT class of maybe 5 cars: http://admin.apts247.com/files/000/000/010/08/uploads/newsletter-3-2008.pdf
He may not want such a high reputation to live up to!

Is that running pump gas? It cost me a little extra, but when I bought the rebuilt 3.73 diff Brendan said it would add 10 hp, so I am around 168 now.

Just say the word and I will pick your car up wherever it is and trailer it to Brendan. He’s good people.

It comes out of a pump and its gas.

The development on the carbon fiber block is what is taking so long. It looks stock. Amazing what they can do.

That and the airbrushing to make everything look old and sh!tty. I figure I got about $15k just in airbrushing.

Wow Jimmy, I wish I was rich like you. Can I maybe hang with you at the track?

#30

Rich? I just put all this on my credit card? I asked my dad to chip in but he isn’t returning my calls. But sure we can hang out.

Good to see there are more of us in the Augusta area. We’ll have to make introductions sometime.

Billy (the new owner) called me up the other day to let me know he’d had his first Spec E30 race, he was very excited about how it all went (though he did have to replace the clutch), sounds like you guys showed him a good time on track. I think it surprised him how exciting a Spec E30 race was compared to running the Viper, he’s seen the light and realizes that fast cars aren’t required for great competition.
