Good or bad coil?

#1

Hi all,
Bentley says that spec for E30 coil is:

 • and – terminals (15 and 1) : 0.5 Ohm
 • and center terminals: 5.0 kOhms

I tested mine and (repeated three times) and got:

 • and – terminals (15 and 1) : 0.7 Ohm
 • and center terminals: 5.95 kOhms

(obviously) the values are just above spec, but does this warrant replacing the coil?

Regards,
Igor

I typically find electrical "specs" are more of a guide and not absolute. I’ve had brand new bmw factory parts that test out of spec and work fine. If you don’t have an ignition problem I wouldn’t worry.
