Getting an E28 tomorrow

It started here.

I didn’t want to bring it home until it was in reasonably good condition. Major efforts were the installation of AC, a full day with the local Dent Wizard taking out hail damage, and redoing the black seats in “carmine” which is almost indistinguishable from cardinal red. As part of the seat effort I had to get a new driver’s seat base, and have some serious repairs done to the passenger’s side. There’s still some issues, but now that it’s home I’ll fix them one by one.

I have carmine vinyl inbound to redo the door cards to match the seats.

This started out as a $4500 car. It has become a $10k car. Let that be a lesson for all.

Red leather… Give me a minute to clean the vomit off of my computer. At least it isn’t white with red leather I guess.

Sorry, you are on your own there. I love cardinal on old BMWs (e28, E30), particularly aged cardinal which takes on a darker tone. I don’t like the red BMW used after those cars and would agree on disliking those.

Scott, sorry to hear you ended up sinking so much money into it. Makes me appreciate my departed E28 that much more. I know it will be tough to find another one as good for the $5k I sold it for down the road but only so much space and so much time to work on them.

It’s actually darker in person than on the pics. I have something close to that color in my Z3 and love it

Ludo is correct. The pics make it seats like more bright and orange than they really are. The actual color is so close to the original cardinal red, which is certainly darker than what appears in these photos, that I can barely tell them apart. My seats are definitely a brighter red then 25yr old darkened-by-time cardinal tho.
