G Tech Pro

#1

I saw MikeD’s car had a G Tech Pro on the dash (or I think it is). Mike, do you use it for more than just a shift light? Did you screw it into the dash or how did you mount it? Anyone else use one of these? Thoughts/experiences?

I have one. You won’t see the lights unless they’re pointed directly at you. I had it on at VIR but can’t download it yet because I need a com port to USB adapter.

Mike will probably chime in, but we mainly use it for the shift light. It does have the capability to download runs including g-forces in turns, lap times, etc. But as Jamie noted, it requires a computer with a com port or a usb/com port adapter to download info.

If you already have a computer and the G Tech pro, I would think that a $20 USB to DB9 adaptor would be a small price to pay to download your runs?

I’m visiting my folks and only have portable. My desktop has the port. Newegg has the adapter for 12 bucks and I am getting one.

So what’s the general consensus on mounting? Screw into the dash (ugh)? Suction cup on the window gonna pass tech?

it might if you also have a tether that would act to keep it away from you if it came loose.
