FWIW....Sealant

#1

FWIW-If you happen to have a need to seal/repair a seeping flange, crack or just about anything on your car. This compound works very well. This compound will repair cracks, rips or just about anything. Be forewarned, do not be messy in its use. It will have to wear off your skin. Proseal is the generic term for this. There is 3 manufactures that I know of. Its main use is to seal aircraft panels, but in the aircraft business it is used for a wide variety of sealing/repairs. It will repair rips and cracks in halfshaft boots and ball joint boots if cleaned well with brake cleaner. If you desire to have a non leaking oil pan, or any engine transmission, or Diff this stuff on both sides of paper gasket will not leak. It takes a razor blade or good plastic scrapers to remove.

Seems like all the good stuff comes from the aircraft industry. A helicopter mechanic got me hooked on a penetrant called Mouse Milk. It’s far and away the best I’ve used.

I agree “Mouse Milk” is Cats Pajama’s on exhaust manifol turbo exhaust work and we use it on somethings in the hot sections on our flying machines. I have some at hanger. My understand is the stuff was formulated during WW2 when working on the old radial turbo/supercharger exhaust flange mounting.“Kroil” is the choice for stubborn nuts and bolts. Dosnt smell bad and works better than “PB”. If someone decides to try some Proseal buy the pint can under the Flamemaster brand. Keep it in the garage fridge and it will last for years. Be accurate with the mix ratio. It’s a 10 to 1 ratio. If you mix it too hot it will set very quickly along with the inverse setting to slow if mixed without the proportional activator. Proseal/Flamemaster is easily smoothed with a little spit on a gloved finger. Makes a nice fillet before it sets.
