Fuel Gauge - aftermarket

#1

my first time posting here I think…

my car is almost ready … ot quite there, but ready for a few months of HPDE first then should be good to go (just a couple little details to go on the car and some fine-tuning… but my driving needs a LOT of improvement before I attempt to race!)

My fuel level gauge doesn’t work, and frankly instead if messing with the stock cluster I would like to install an aftermarket gauge.

Any recommendations / ideas for aftermarket fuel level gauge and installation tips? Or should I just forget about it.

The fuel gauge system on a E30 is really pretty simple. It would be a lot easier to fix what you have than to fit an after market gauge. Things that might need attention include:

  1. The fuses that supply power to the cluster
  2. The connection between the gauge and the PCB in the cluster
  3. Wiring between the cluster and the sensor(s)
  4. The sensor(s)

An aftermarket fuel gauge sounds hard.
