Front Sway Bar Movement!!

#1

Just a quick question to see if anyone else has had this problem.

While under my Dad’s car not long ago I realized his front sway bar was sliding side to side in it’s mounts. It was moving enough the bar was hitting the tire. The bar on his car is just like the one we run in Spec E30. After we put it back in place I noticed my front sway bar had also been sliding side to side and contacting tire. On both cars the bar moved towards the drivers side, there was no evidence on the passenger side of the bar rubbing the tire!!

Any thought on why this might be happening??

My front sway shifts over too and I don’t know why. I used a couple hose clamps to fasten piece of rubber near each sway mount to make it harder for the sway to shift over. During the winter break I loosen the mounts a little and bonk the sway back to center with a rubber mallet.

I have the UUCs, and shouldn’t all front sway bars have that washer to prevent movement:

Shorten your links and they shouldn’t be able to move as far. Just guessing.

I put two shaft collars on the inside of my bushings on most cars.

That is a good design that unfortunately my IE bars don’t have.
