front springs not tight?

#1

I realized after installing the front springs that they don’t seat in their housing until the car is taken off jack stands, how do you guys line up the springs in the housing and make sure they are seated correctly? And can they spin while on the car? I reused the rubber spring perch pieces but they just spin with the sping.

This is normal. Since the H&R race springs are shorter than the stock springs they will not compress until the car is on the ground. Just be sure that both ends of the springs are positioned correctly relative to the dentent on the upper and lower spring perch of the strut body. Then just lower the car and they will be fine.

I put a couple zip ties on the lower perches to hold the bases of the springs in place. There happen to be 2 or 3 conveniently located holes in the lower perch.

Another good idea is to always lower the car back to the ground with the wheels pointing the same direction they were when you jacked it up. This will increase the chances that the spring hats will correctly engage the springs. Straightening the wheels before jacking and lowering is the easiest way to maintain this discipline.
