Thanks for the write up!
I removed the hose connection off the back of the head (without pulling the head or standing on my head). And I’ll install the AKG blockoff plate tomorrow.
I’ll start on removing the dash tonight. And drinking cold beer!

Be sure to use a razor blade to clean the surface of the head before installing the block off plate. And I’d highly recommend using some gasket sealer. When I took my hose adapter off, lots of gasket material was caked on the head.
Dash is out!
See attached pictures. I’ve got a few questions for you guys:
Any other tips to lighten up the wiring? I do plan to remove the door glass/regulators/wiring next…
Thanks!

Keep the blue VDO box. Orange airbag stuff can go. If you’re really looking to strip down your wiring harness. Try eliminating central locking system, power windows, and power mirrors. I did that with my harness. The central locking system box is tucked away behind the speaker in the drivers kick panel area.
Be careful about removing wiring. It’s not heavy and if you cut the wrong wire it will be a real pita to replace. Simply cutting wires you know you don’t need can cause intermittent shorts that will drive you bonkers. You have years ahead of you to do little stuff like trimming back wiring. Just do the important stuff and get the car on the track.
Only cut the wires that you are absolutely sure can go away. And do it neatly so the ends of the wires can’t move around and touch anything.
