Yea, if you’re going to build the car to SpecE30 anyway, might be better to do the min to pass inspection then have the race build done. For $6K you can almost have a lot of specE30 goodies put on.
Definately agree that getting a book and learning to do stuff is the way to go - labor is the most expensive part, plus the messing around with shops is a hassle. Basic set of metric wrenches and sockets and a flashlight and you can do most things yourself and learn about your car at the same time - plus a lot of people here to ask about stuff. B)

got it back from the other shop, im just over 400 bucks poorer, but the car should be ready to pass the inspection at the tire place i took it to. I doubt ill ever go back to my old favorite shop after the price they tried to pull on me.
