Finalized Paint Design (mild 56k warning)

#1

I think I’ve finalized my paint design… the Delphin Sans-Clearcoat look is just too avant-garde, I think.

So here’s the design, based on the '66 Shelby GT-350, with number styles taken from the Gurney GT-40 mkIV.

It’s a quick photoshop job of my first photo of the 3er, so the perspectives aren’t perfect. The blue will be something along the lines of Nissan Daytona Blue (saw it on the new 350Z), or as close as I can get to blue race tape, and the rocker decal may or may not happen. What do you guys think?

PS – I hope Brain doesn’t mind the Tomcat Association decal on the P/S mirror.

Well, keep in mind that it only looks that good in photoshop, right now… It’ll be up to Peach to get the paint to look that nice, come March.

Just got it back from the paint shop… it’s not perfect, but it’s close enough. Excuse the messy state of my garage.

The color is Mazda Mariner Blue – a 1990 Miata color.

Looks great…much better than when I saw it at VIR. How many HP is something like that worth?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks! Yeah, I’m doing the rocker stripes, but it’s going to be a decal (complex paint is just too difficult to maintain down low). Hopefully, it’ll be in place by September (right now, I’m just fighting tooth and nail to get numbers and names for next weekend).

About -3hp, considering that the boys at Peach Auto Painting forgot to mask off the oil cooler (the manager was real thrilled when I pointed that out to her – along with the fact that they didn’t pull the two dents in the drivers door that I paid for them to work out).

Looks great. I especially like the "Spec E30" on the side stripe. Looking forward to seeing it on track… as I’m sure you are too.

Looks great Dan.

I love those bright colors. They really make the cars look good during the races.

Thanks. I’ve always loved that classic Shelby GT-40/Daytona/Cobra/GT-350 look - blame it on having a '65 mustang as a first car.

BTW, I’d never have figured that you like bright colors, Carter.

I know, I know…

I’m thinking about adding two black stripes to my car. Forrest will be back in the fall and I need something to make my car look different from his.
