FCAB removal

#1

So, I was putting the front suspension back together and got to the point of removing the old lolipops from the old control arms.

Yeah, no such luck. I soaked it, heated it, banged on it, and even swore at it. Frozen like a dog turd in Alaska.

Anyone have any neat tricks? I really don’t want to buy new offset bushings…

#2

Do you have the M3 rubber offsets or delrin?

#3

M3 rubber offset.

Got a press?

#5

Yeah, I tried pressing it off…without destroying the bushing so I could save it. It was fairly new before so i saw no reason to change it out.

Sounds like some rust in bonding to the rubber. You could try penetraing oil, but not sure what it will do to the rubber. If you have a syringe with a long needle, try injecting some silicone grease under the edge in several places, then a small flatblade screwdriver to break the edge loose. The only other way I know to get it off is burn it off with a propane torch or cut it out, but that will ruin it of course.
