F_CK IT!

Here’s a “build picture” that I’m not proud of. I had this trick installation for the oil gauge that involved brackets, small hex-head bolts, and epoxy. I tried twice, but the epoxy failed as I tightened the bolts–the red plastic lining in the duct opening is too slick for a good bond. Tonight I got tired of fighting it and turned to duct tape. I think I’m getting the hang of this race car thing now: it’s not how it looks, it’s how it works. Unfortunately now I need to work on getting a whole lot faster. Well, at least I used black duct tape!:stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know…Is that spec duct tape?

Sasha - I have a possible solution for this issue. I can show you at VIR in Feb. I installed my kill switch in the air duct on the passenger side. Took a piece of 3 in wide steel, bent into a box, and bolted through the red plastic and dash. It worked well, but it looks like your duct tape is working so far!

Obviously inspired by my sunroof.

I don’t think that will pass tech without a piece of tape on the bottom.

Carter may need to weigh in on this one…

I thought the rules stated that only SILVER duct tape be used. Black duct tape is an obvious unfair advantage and goes against the spirit of the rules.

The correct way to fabricate this solution is using Mighty Putty. If you don’t want to go big with that, try aluminum tape. The duct tape that you’re using may save some weight though. I’d like to see before and after scale readings before making any claims.

Sasha, I am so proud of you I could cry. You have officially become an honorary Malt Liquor Tech Junior Associate Member.:silly:

Craig, mighty putty is only for structural applications. For something like this it is clearly overkill. JB Weld should have done the trick.

Was that tape provided by the authorized tape distributor?

Wow… I can’t wait to see how you “fixed” the body damage.

And Travis, you wish MLT repaired stuff that well. You guys would use bubble gum and an old condom wrapper.
