Eccentric/Offset bushings

#1

9.3.8.2 states these are permitted. What do they do for you (More negative camber?). And how about the return on investment i.e.hassle versus handling improvement? To be considered in the initial build or for later after you learn how not to get in the way of guys who actually know how to drive:blink:

Offset bushings will provide a little more negative camber than the stock bushings. They are no more of a hassle to install than the stock bushings and there is really no downside that I am aware of. If you are going to upgrade the bushings to delrin or urethane for track use then go for the offset ones.

I’d say these area a MUST do on any E30 that is even driven in a sporting fashion.

If you are staying daily or street driver throw some E30 M3 Offsets in there. THey are solid rubber, no holes except the one for the arm.

If you are track only go delrin or ureathane.

You don’t change camber much but you do get more caster amd a slightly longer wheel base. Increased caster makes the steering feel heavier and changes the dynamics of the car on turn in.

where’s the best place to find them?

support our sponsors…bimmerparts.com sells factory parts, the other companies have different mfg.'s aftermarket stuff

Bimmerworld (one of the site sponsors) sells a couple different kinds - One Urethane with carbon fiber, and one made by powerflex. I’ve used both, and really like the powerflex race ones, but had good results from both.

You guys must be reading my mind. I was just considering this very subject. I need to replace my control arms as the passenger side has a worn ball joint. Carr Industries in Greensboro has the offset delrin bushings in stock. Ireland Engineering has them out west I believe. It appears to me that you can change camber or caster depending on how you install the bushing. Or is there only one way to install them?

#8

the offset CA will increase caster a little and is designed to be installed one way

There was an extensive post on this under suspension in June

Delrin eccentric, no doubt.
