The FL guys and I have been doing some planning re. the Daytona event. Since most of us SE types haven’t been there before, I wanted to get some stuff figured out so we could maximize the carousing and wife-swapping. Or spouse-swapping, significant other swapping, partner swapping, whatever. If your dog is really cute but the high maintenance has now grown wearisome, bring the dog for the odd MidS type that might attend.
We’re used to partying in the paddock, but that’s not going to work for Daytona. The paddock is locked up after the track goes cold and we won’t have access to it. So for partying we have to move to the “Camping Area” where the RVs will be sited. So here’s the plan:
The SpecE30 Party and part-swapping Zentrum is the Mad Motorsports rig in the Camping Area. All SpecE30 types that are taking an RV like rig to Daytona should attempt to get as close to Mad as possible. Mad will get there Thur. Note that you have to pay to get a space in the Camping Area. Do this at the NASA Registration website.
Where to rack out at night:
-
What you can’t do is sleep in your trailer if you leave your trailer in the paddock. Moving your trailer to the Camping area seems like a lot of hassle so I don’t see an easy way to sleep in your trailer like I do.
-
You could move your truck to the camping area when the track goes cold, party at Mad and sleep in the truck’s bed. Hopefully you could do this w/o having to pay for the privilege.
-
Get a hotel.
-
Get to know someone with an RV. Talk up your personal hygiene. See if you can have some space on their floor.
-
Decide it’s time to experiment with gender roles and finish the evening’s festivities in the Miata paddock.
Plan to eat lunch Sat in the paddock. Nat (Natalie) Black the FL SpecE30 bosslady, Mad, and I will work out something to feed everyone. If FL doesn’t have a tradition of feeding everyone Sat night, we’ll come up with our own plan.
