Dans v2.0 SE30 #342

#1

Just wanted to show off the ‘new’ car (version 2.0). No longer is it Bronzit.

We did a full strip to the tub and build up from scratch. The cage is TC Designs and the motor is from Valley. Tony Z did some work on various tidbits as well, especially helping with the clutch. Jerry Woods Enterprises did the paint. We did the rest of the work at our shop.

We did all the normal stuff:

  • ss lines
  • Setrab oil cooler with custom machined mounts
  • m3 radiator
  • motor/tranny mounts
  • clutch
  • A/C delete
  • P/S delete
  • bushings
  • short shifter
  • legal diff
  • other stuff I forget

We decided to not run camber plates and [edit] upgraded [/edit] sways as of yet, we are still gathering data to decide what we want to do exactly. We plan some test sessions to get where we want to be there.

We have a fresh motor from Walter. The previous motor lost #6 through the case.

From an electronics perspective we removed everything. We rebuild the loom from scratch and eliminated much of the wiring not used. We still have the factory ABS and engine electrics all stock. We removed all the A/C/heater box and all climate wiring and switches as well as the entire gauge cluster. We replaced all the gauges with an all digital setup using the AiM MXL dash with GPS and various sensors. We used the stock OPS switch location for a oil pressure sensor and used a custom machined adapter for water temp on the thermostat housing. The dash is mounted on a custom fabricated dash panel that covers the cluster as well as the stereo/climate control area. Nice and clean.

We run a Chasecam PDR100 with SS1000 until we move to a SmartyCam system soon. We can’t keep them in stock so we end up selling ours every time we get one for ourselves. haha.

The car is outfitted with the latest radio package we offer. This includes the Motorola PM400 radio and car harness and PTT button on the wheel. We use the whip type antenna.

Huge effort, now let’s see how she runs and get her dialed in…

Very Nice!

Congrats. How much does it weigh? Everything looks very clean. Did you Dyno it yet? It will be interesting to see your dyno score vs. Steve F (the other VM motor). See you saturday!

Thank you! We don’t know exactly how much it weighs, but will find out this weekend. No dyno run yet, but if we have time this weekend at TH we’re going to hit the dyno, We’ll make sure we take out the turbo first

Dan,
Your car looks great! The interior also looks fantastic.

All this talk about who has the most horsepower…I keep telling Kevin that HP is overated! His car is down on HP by at least 20 or more ponies & he is still out there tearing it up like a man with NOFEAR. Puts it on pole last month, podium finish…There is more speed to be found in all of our cars, it comes down to the driver willing to access himself & find out if there is more speed to be found within. That is my speed tip of the year.

You boys place nice & have fun this weekend. I’ll be in Santa Barbara with my wife spending what I would have spent racing…and likely then some.:stuck_out_tongue:

And that’s why I love the SE30 Spec, it’s about the drivers and having fun. No wallet racing (well, my wallet is empty now)

We don’t have a weight yet but we will before we get there and we have a ‘ballast plan’ ;-).

Your going to come back broke, there’s something about 50 that only spa treatments, fancy dinners and shopping will temper. Hopefully we don’t see your car for sale on the forum Monday!

Hey Bennett,
I forgot to mention that I installed a rev limiter on her a few months back, even though I chipped her a few months prior to that, now she just bounces off the limiter anytime I take her close to 7,000rrrrrrr’s.

O boy, maybe you will need the spa treatment Monday. Be careful bouncing her off the rev limiter sometimes they blow…Have a great weekend!!!

I will be jumping on the Dyno as well. Maybe Sean too. I want to see how much of an improvement I accomplished with the new spark plugs and plugged Vacuum leaks Tony and Sean found. I was at 142 hp this winter, probably 144 now.

HP is only overrated when you have a BUNCH of it. I know how frustrating it is to get a run on someone and watch them pull away. I also know how frustrating it is to earn pole and then blow the start.

Everyone should get their car Dyno’d on a proper Adjusted Dyno. I can properly guess everyone’s Real HP with in 5. I am goin’ find out if I am right this weekend.

I have heard numbers from 120-162 in our group. The weakest car I have seen is Scoots before he fixed some stuff. and He had 135 at the time (correct me if I am wrong Scoot). So I don’t buy that anyone is under that.

If I can fix my car and get it to 160 I won’t be apologizing to anyone!

This is racing. The car is part of it and the driver is part of it…ask Jenson Button.

Congrats again Dan on a great lookin’ car. I hope it helps you move a lot more of the stuff you sell! I am anxious to see your Dash! If your motor is like Steve’s, You will be lovin’ it. VM and STR both look to be buildin’ some good motors. It will be interesting to see where the braggin’ rights end up!

Cheers

If you can guess my new car’s dyno HP within 5, I’ll pay for your car’s dyno. If you can’t, you pay for mine?

Mine dyno’d at 132hp at Thunderhill last August…worn camshaft and the way I wired the kill switch using the coil were the culprits! Looking forward to the extra squirrels in the cage this weekend…this will be the first time I’ve had the car at T-Hill since I fixed the car :woohoo:
