Cruise Control Rule Clarification

#1

Hi all,
What is definition of Cruise Control mechanism in:

9.3.1.8.7 Cruise control mechanism may be modified or removed

Does this mean only cable and the bracket on top of the intake manifold OR anything related to the cruise control (i.e. lever, electronics, etc.)

Before I get flamed for asking about this  – let me explain: I am trying to sell anything useful that I can legally remove and put it towards legal and necessary mods (cage, seat, etc.)

Igor:

The mechanisms/mechanicals (sp?) of the cruise control system include anything that is under the hood, that is a direct part of the cruise control system.

Good question…

So we can remove bracket and cable that are under the hood – I am clear on that now. I am still unclear on the rest of the Cruise Control system – can we remove cruse control lever that is on the steering column, can we remove cruise control computer, etc. (i.e we can only remove selected/partial cruise control components or all). What about discrepancy between the cars that originally did not have the CC system vs ones that do?

Again before I get flamed for seemingly small/trivial mod please read my original post for my reasons

You don’t plan on using your cruise while racing?? Boy, my foot would get tired… :side:

I doubt anyone will protest your car if the CC lever is missing but I left mine in the car. I really didn’t want to go to the trouble of pulling it out and I doubt there is a big market for used CC levers. Plus, I want my car to look simple and stock.

Knowing the spirit of the Rules, I’m confidant you’ll make the right decision on what parts to pull.

And if anyone makes a mod that is not performance enhancing but is not within the Rules, you won’t get DQ’d that weekend. The infraction will be noted in the car’s logbook and you’ll have time to change it before the next race weekend.
