Complete engine failure...

#1

Hey guys,

I just saw my heart drop through the floor when I went to test the motor that I was relying on was a complete failure. I need to swap the motor this coming Sunday if I am going to be able to make my licensing on the 19-20th of this month. I am in need of a good m20b25 that I can pick up on Friday or Saturday at the latest. I need a strong motor, and would prefer a later model (88+) I am not being picky at this point though…

If you can help me out, or know someone that can, please post here, or e-mail me at grydemon@gmail.com. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your engine Brenden. I would suggest calling Walter at VM Werks to see if he can help you out.

Saw this not too long ago- I’m sure you could haggle them down. Let me know if you need a hand turning wrenches or anything.

Brenden, sorry to hear that.

What do you mean by complete failure? Are you sure it’s not fixable? Is it in the car already? Maybe there is something you can do - let us know if you need some help.

If you absolutely need a new motor, Craigslist as suggested, Walter, Double 02, Pick n Pull, or find a cheap running E30 and register it non-op and pull stuff for spares.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a motor from Bavarian in Rancho Cordova, and am driving up there tomorrow to pick it up along with a crank scraper from Walter. See you guys on the 19th!!!Lets hope my car will have a logbook, so I can be licensed…

did you allready pick it up?
dont waste your money there!!!
call marshall at double o2 salvaqe in haward. He gives you a gauranty for i think 90 days. Dont tell him i said so but i blew one up and he replaced it. Try to get an automatic motor like i have, the wear on the valve train was very minimul. www.doubleo2salvage.com

If I recall correctly Bav offers a warranty also. Not sure how the prices compare - 02 are junkyard motors and I think Bavs are either JY or rebuilt so it really depends on what he’s buying whether he could have got a better deal or not. I think both had a warranty tho…

Brenden, you’ll want to keep the failed motor and rebuilt it to the limit of the rules. In this class you’re going to need it to win by next year - there are some well built cars among us…

Well…I have paid, and am driving up there tomorrow morning to pick it up, so I can install it on Sunday. I have a bit of faith in them, as I have purchased a m42 through them for my daily driver 318is, and it was a good motor and had no problems. Double 02 was about a hundred dollars more than Bav…Bav has a two year warranty with their motors…
