Part 2…

#22

Jason, where is Sunday’s video?

this is the only part i’ve done so far, the rest is coming. uploading multiple 600+ MB files on my highly asymmetrical cable modem takes a LONG time and makes my connection more or less useless for the duration. maybe tomorrow i’ll swing by the colo and use the 60mb/s pipe there

J-tow… always playing with other people’s pipe.

If you want to use the 20gb/s here let me know, we can do lunch and knock it out.

finally finished uploading. now where are everybody else’s videos?

Here’s my Sunday video: Vimeo link

I don’t think I got any good video Saturday. Here’s the recap of that race: Pass Walsh in T1, hold off Evan, hold off Evan some more, let Evan through, repass Evan in the next turn, gap Evan, let Evan catch back up… Wash, rinse, repeat. Lose race in the tech shed for 11/32nds too much front track width. Doh!

Robert, Eric, Julio and all the others in the tech shed were very kind and I could tell they were trying to figure out how to get rid of 3/32nds over the 1/4" tolerance. The measurement was correct, my car was not. For that, I apologize. It was right on Sunday and will be right at Road Atlanta.

I, for one, applaud the increased level of tech. While those guys were measuring my car I was over with the Miatas measuring cam lobes, sway bars, checking VIN numbers, etc. Kinda ironic, eh?

Sorry for the inferior video quality. I think my ChaseCam system is on its last legs…

I don’t think anyone thought you were trying to sneak one in. Seemed like a simple mistake. But I agree that it’s great we’re actually checking these things now. We all could be more careful I’m sure. I was close on the camber specs and I had no idea.

That was KraZee! IIRC, that corner is historically bad for Fred…

I was updating the season points for Spec Miata and decided to run the points for SE30 too.

We have run 6 races with 28 different competitors thus far. Right now, only 9 points separate the top 3.

Here’s the sheet:

That is a long list of folks who could take the season championship!!

If you will, go to 1:00 to 1:35.
Driver 800 was not happy with driver 241 after the race.

Comments? Is this one of them "learning moments?"
With the number of incedents that is being tallied at the NASA SE website, I am thankful that 800 was able to aviod contact.

Thanks, Steve.
At the next event we’ll do some additional checks. I’ll post what the racers can do to help in post-race inspections before RA in June.

See if you can’t reposition your camera such that it gets a good angle on your rear view mirror. That would have made the clip perfect. We could have seen the panic on the midget’s face.

241 was driving thier line. I see no problem with that. I have had long talks with our comp director about situations like this and his take is that if someone is wanting to take a high risk pass they have to be ready to put two in the dirt. there was still room there for the required 3/4 car width although it may have not been optimal position. I am pretty good at getting in the front at starts and then have a tendency to drive very defensively which slows me way down. His advise was to drive my line which will be faster and peak in the mirror at stratigic locations to make sure no one is there but not to look all the time. I drive my mirrors too much which is slow and which allows the guys behind me to get a good run and drive by.

Just my .02

Michael - that maybe correct to the letter of the rules, but there is a day when that situation reverses and somebody pushes you off track and maybe there is not as much run off room in that place.

I would say Robert got a little aggressive and moved over. I tried that once and Craig G wasn’t quite as nice as Travis and I ended up with some red marks on my car. I guess you just have to be ready for some “rubbing” when you move over like that. Whether you’re right or not is for the racing director to determine based on how far the car next you was, etc…

This sounds like a pretty interesting weekend. The Jones - Thunder Roadster battle was really something. I’m frankly surprised that he didn’t go in to roid-rage and T-Boned him at the next corner.

Hoping to make the next one!
good on ya steve, thanks! but why isn’t nasa doing this?

http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=41980
Tower - “NASA” in a lot of ways is just us. There is a volunteer (Bryan Carpenter) who maintains the points for all classes. He said that he likes it when the series directors also track points as a double check, so I decided to keep my list too.

Of all the sprint classes, AI, FFR, PTA (Thunder Roadsters), and SE30 were the only ones where folks really ran for season points AND the were within a close range where a running tally of season points mattered.
