CMP SpecMiata/E30 shootout

#1

Some of you got the flier for this last month. I don’t know anything more that is what on the flier, but for those of you that didn’t see it…

CMP is hosting something that they are calling a SpecMiata/E30 shootout on 10-11Dec. The flier says “practice Sat morning and racing the rest of the weekend” and “tons of track time”.

“Qual races, heat races, main races and feature races” and apparently cash awards for top 3.

That’s the weekend after NASA RA. Historically that weekend has seen a vintage/BMWCCA race at Roebling, but that is not on the BMW calendar this year.

The Vintage event is on the Roebling calendar. No mention of BMWCCA tho.

As I recall, last year it was a race event put on by the track management and was for Spec Miatas only. I guess they are expanding their reach to E30s this year.

Here’s mylaps from that event. 10 cars started the weekend and seven finished. Plenty of track time for testing, I guess…

Personally, I plan on being broke, worn out, sick of racing, and starting my 6 week off season right after the December NASA event at Road Atlanta.

Yep, I was talking to CMP track management a couple of weeks ago and that’s what they said.

Attached is the flyer and general info for the Shootout the weekend of December 10 & 11. Contact us with questions or to obtain more details. Basically a fun weekend with a significant amount of track time and cash winnings for at least the top 3 plus other non cash prizes.

The tenative schedule is three 30 minute practices Saturday morning, two 20 lap races Saturday afternoon (short and long course), 30 minute practice Sunday morning, three races (20 lap, 5 lap and 20 lap) the remainder of Sunday. All of the races except for the last race will be scored as a race series (obtain points for finishig position from each race). The final 20 lap race (with a caution at the 10 lap mark) will be grided based on the points and the finishing position of this race is for the money.
