Clutches

#1

We grenaded a clutch at RA this friday in the enduro, clutch had one weekend on it. Travis was driving and has one year of track driving on a used clutch and one year of driving on a new clutch, without any problems and then we installed this one on his replacement motor, so I dont think there is anyway it has anything to do with his driving…The pressure plate broke causing the disc to pretty much explode messing up the flywheel and the trans. Anyone have any experiance? The disc was a Sachs and the PP was a LUK…which I thought was kinda strange.

The stock clutches can’t handle the 263 hp his cheater motor is putting out. He needs to couple it to a cheater clutch

I wonder if there’s been a bad batch of clutchs from Sach’s or something. Seems like a lot of people are trashing them recently. Maybe the 180K mile transmissions are the culprits?

That was an M3 clutch wasn’t it? I wouldn’t use anything except a bone stock clutch.

I suspect Travis was already into the malt liquor…

I blew my original 21 yrs old clutch at VIR T1 in June.

I’m pretty sure it was my fault. I was braking into the turn and dumped the clutch just be bit too early from 5th gear to the 3rd gear.

Too much for the clutch to handle. My timing was off just so slightly but at that speed, it was enough.

Did the straps break on the PP?
