Clicking from clutch area at idle when cold

#1

At first I thought that it was the world’s worst valve adjustment. But I’ve checked that 2X and the valves are fine. Once the engine’s temp comes up, the clicking always dies away, just like a noisy valve.

Tonight, I got under the car while it was cold and idling. And instead of the sound seeming to come from rocker #6, I got the impression that the sound was coming from the clutch area. The clutch is relatively new, but the throw-out bearing is old.

There’s no other signs of trouble.

I don’t think that it can be #6 rod. Rod bearing clicking wouldn’t go away once the motor got warm I figure.

Any ideas on these symptoms?
