Kidding around aside, tell me about how did you guys do that decal job that goes from hood to trunk? That looks nice.
I know that no one seems to be a big fan of the CCA decals/requirements, but it can be done, it can look good and you can have room left over for your own sponsors. The club race sponsors have spent their cash to support the series, I think it’s the right thing to do to run at least the minimum decal requirements.
This is what 70lbs of decals can look like:
looks good…you can also get the number boards die cut…

Yeah, we were looking at doing that. I was a little concerned that the pinstripe around the edge wouldn’t hold up to repeated washing, abuse and the effort it takes to get the black rubber marks out of that white paint. Of course I may end up doing that eventually… we’ll see how it holds up.

After some anal-retentive measuring (right up your alley :stuck_out_tongue: ) I sat down and designed the graphics on my mac. I sent the files to Revolution Decal (the same folks that did the beer tech graphics) and he sent the finished decals back to me. I took three separate evenings (one for each section) to apply them. The material they print on is great - has perfs so that you can really work the creases out. It required some patience (which escaped me a few times) but I’m very pleased with my first large-scale application  The hood and roof are actually two separate pieces seamed together but you really can’t tell (and I’m the only one that notices).
I spoke with Rodney at Revolution Decal - really great to work with - RodneyM@revolutiondecal.com
Here it is at concept stage:

Wow, that’s awesome Nat.

Natalie,

Can you share those scale wireframes with me? I’m working on a design for my car and struggling getting photos to the precise scale. I see you have a plan view, do you have side elevations too? Can you email them and/or post for the group to use?

Thanks!

Joe,

here is a post I started on another board for the same thing

hope this helps

Those are some great line drawings, I wish I had found those prior to working on mine! I ended up using the e30 M3 top view and removing the wing in photoshop. This was for concept so I wasn’t worried about it being 100% accurate - I’d do that in the full-size final art files.
I do have another e30 diagram that I’d found since then, but the ones in the thread that peakracer linked to are better and cleaner.

Here’s another link that folks might find useful - it has drawings like these for all kinds of things - but this is a link to only the BMW section:
