Dave Ellingsworth is doing the cage on Scott’s car and he’s also done the DP Motorwerks rental race car’s cage.

Anyone who needs a cage built, Dave has all the bends for a custom cage in his computer software with and a precsion bender. Shoot him an email:

is that good to have the diagonal bar start so far out from the corner - I think it has be less than 12"
I’m just working on my new cage design now …
thanks,
bruce

Diagonal bars should be centered over the driver’s head

#8

You’re both right. The CCR states
One end of the diagonal brace shall attach to the corner, or horizontal part, of the main hoop above the driver’s head, within twelve (12) inches of the driver’s side corner.
From a structural standpoint, that diagonal in the picture is not mounted in the most ideal position. The best place is to have it attach as close to the bend as possible.

Also, the rear down brace should really be mounted where the front hoop is. The way it is right now, there are 2 dead load paths.
