CCA/Vintage roebling

#1

I am trying to decide to run CCA or Vintage, CCA would be more expensive, with possibly less track time…plus I can beat up on some of my vintage race buddies as opposed to getting beat up by some of my CCA buddies…

Any input?

I don’t know what the vintage boys charge, but CCA is only $275. By their standards, that is cheap.

I really think you should run both. Isn’t your SE30 car old enough for a vintage class?

But, if you decide to do vintage only, Patton and I might need a crew chief for the enduro!

Any one else going to the CCA deal? Patton, Chuck, who else? I just put in my paperwork for the BMW license. It was like a scavenger hunt to get all their paperwork in, but I think I did it right.

We’ll find out.

Al, you’re definitely a vintage kind of dude  but you’ll have more fun with the KP Lites (SE30 cars).

I am bypassing this event (aka BMWCCA licensing) sadly in lieu of the rumor I heard about NASA SE running enduros in 2008. Right Jim (Pantas)? Otherwise, I’d be showing you, Jim R, Chuck and Patton(s) the fast line around Roebling. Was that smack talk? February’s a long time from now…

Sadly (for you) the fast line at RRR in Dec. looks a lot like your line (and times) at Barber this year.

I haven’t read the exhaust rules for KP yet… I hope I’m legal.

Looks like I will be running the CCA race…I gotta do the paperwork which I hate…plus sending the $$ for the license, I swore I wouldnt give them any more $$$…

I need the track time in the new car.

Excellent! This puts us up to 6 SE30 cars running in KP (with so far only 3 real KP cars running). Pantas/Hennig, Patton, Taylor x2, Robinson.

Aside from the tremendous fun we’ll be having, that might send some kind of signal to the CCA gang that if they’d just do what Robert said, and adjust KP (or KS) so it was more compatible with SE30, they’d get higher participation.

Anybody else need to get a late-season fix at RRR? Great pigroast on Saturday night! Late-day sun for the Enduro on Saturday that’ll be far worse than the sun at the end of the IFU race. Good times all around.

I thought the Robinson/Brewster/Geiger act was a trio–you guys always travel in packs. Come on guys, you can’t let Jim have all the fun.

Craig, speaking of Enduros, did you read the enduro rules carefully? Geez, we have to make ourselves available to the spectators and media for interviews, we need our crew (crew!?!) to have matching uniforms, and so on. It’s like semi-pro football!

I think I might try to get the car enough together to go to the driver’s school in December. I guess it’s the Wed-Fri before the weekend races.

And chipped ECUs are legal.

However, for me, I’m staying true to my humble SpecE30 roots and running the stock ECU even though I do have a chipped one in my spares.

#12

Yes…we know.

I may have to come and spoil the party…

I have all my paperwork in order - I am bringing the Panther and possibly the "Red Baron" down if I still have it then. Tom Hennig, Robert Patton, Chuck Taylor & I are dropping cars/trailers off on Wed. driving to the PRI show Thu-Fri and returning to race the weekend - should be a blast! B)

That is correct - five(5) possibly six(6) 3hr Enduros in 2008…and if we get enough participation we’ll put together a 6hr or 12 hr race at one of the new tracks later in the year. B)

I dont think I am going to make it to RRR…I printed the paperwork and started looking at what I had to do…well on top of the $50 licence fee there was $35 for waiting longer than 3 months to renew ??? and then I had to rejoin the CCA…well there is a reason I quit racing with CCA, and it wasnt about $…but looking at the paperwork and checks to write made me think about what I said a couple of years ago…I guess I am just not ready to come back. It has been 20 years since SCCA pissed me off, so I guess BMW CCA will have to wait also.

I am sticking with NASA and whatever vintage grooups will allow an e30 (SVRA for one!)

Jim, I love the idea of enduro’s count me in!

thats my plan too, what time are you guys planning on dropping your cars off wednesday?

How do you handle the decal requirements when jumping into a non-NASA race? I’m looking thru the BMWCCA racing regs and they seem to require the following 17 decals:
Tire Rack windshield banner
BMW CCA Club Racing (2)
BMW Door Panels (2)
Evosport (2)
HMS Motorsports (2)
MotorsportCoverage.com (2)
Summit Mortgage (2)
UUC Moterwerks (2)
VAC Motorsports (2)

Even if you were ok with putting 50 lbs of non-NASA decals on your car, do you also remove your current windsheild banner and put on the Tire Rack banner?

Patton and I will probably get to Roebling between 10a and noon on Wednesday. I think Pantas/Hennig will have been thru there already by that point.
