The rules say fluid lines need to be metal or metal braided. Catch cans can be installed on the transmission and differential. Can the catch cans be installed inside the cockpit and do the catch cans need to be metal.

I don’t know that there is a rule explicitly prohibiting catch cans in the cockpit. Maybe the “hoses in the cockpit need to be metal braided” rule might be stretched to apply to it. Storing hot fluids, flammable or not, in the cockpit just can’t be a good idea.
Catch cans do not need to be metal. Most everyone uses plastic.
