car setup track to track?

#1

So I survived my rookie season in fairly good shape. Only couple of offs and one minor rubbing incident with a spec Miata.

Next year I want to continue to work on the nut behind the wheel; I also want to learn a lot more about car setup.

How much do the front runners tweak witht ehir car from session to session and track to track. It seems the universe of somewhat easy adjustments are: tire pressure, rear sway bar, camber, caster and brake pads. How much do you change these, how do you know what to change, do you do asymetrical setups, what have I missed?

Thanks!,
Mark

I’m only an occasional frontrunner but I do know that tweaking with tire pressures, sway bar settings, fuel load, ballast weight, etc. can give an advantage from track to track and session to session. But as you say, its all up to the loose nut behind the wheel to take advantage of those advantages- if you cant feel the difference yet between a single pound of air pressure then dont obsess over this until you can.

I’m too lazy to tweak anything, the only change I usually make is tire pressures. I get the alignment checked about once a year.

This was my first year and have become a front runner here in Northern CA. I mess with my rear swaybar from time to time. I Have been experimenting with alignment settings throughout the year, and am very disciplined about checking and tweaking tire pressure at the track. Now I realize I am seriously down on power, almost twenty HP/TQ. So I know what I need to focus on in the off season…I think we all need to adjust the nut behind the wheel…:stuck_out_tongue:

I only change tire pressures from track to track.
In the rain, I’ll slap the 14’s on, and disconnect the rear sway.
