Car Lift

#1

I am thinking about putting a lift in my flex space garage. I rented about 1500 sq ft, part for Broadreach and part for hobbies. So I was thinking about putting a lift in, does anyone have any experience with manufactures, quaility, problems, features…

I’ve done a bit of research. From what I’ve discovered, I would definitely choose a 2-post asymmetrical lift, since it allows opening the doors with the car on the lift and allows access to the entire bottom side. The down side is that it has to be anchored to the slab, and if you don’t know the slab thickness or compressive strength, this can be a problem. I would probably buy a Rotary Lift–you can get a 7,000 lbs. capacity lift installed for right around $4,000.

By the way, I like your storage facility idea, primarily because it could foster comradery and sharing knowledge about maintaining the E30. If I weren’t planning on building my own garage with a lift, I’d be tempted!

My dad put one in his three car garage.

two post.

He got it used from a guy who sells them new.

Seems some shops trade up or go out of business and they have used ones.

Looks like new. Works great. Was around $2000.00 installed.

You haven’t lived until you can work on the bottom of your race car standing up.

(but you really haven’t lived until you set a car on fire welding on a lift…it all came out ok though!!!)

Terry Carraway built an ultimate garage, including a lift (he even had a letter about it published in a GRM advice column)… you might try contacting him he goes by Pinecone on the NCCBMWCCA board, bimmerfest and BimmerForums
