Camber Plates

#1

I’m a little confused on which camber plates to buy. I have seen everything from $469.00 to $250.00 for the pair. How much adjustment do i really need? or do i even need them at all?

Yes, you need them. Obviously H&R Race springs lower our cars. When that happens your rear end will gain neg camber and end up around -2.4 or so. That’s not a bad place to be. But the front suspension isn’t going to do that, in fact it might even gain some positive camber so in order to get decent front camber #'s you need camber plates.

IMO the biggest difference between the various camber plate designs are their durability. The various brands are likely to all get you to the same camber spec because you’re limited by the front spring hat abutting the strut tower. Get camber plates that are all steel and mention SpecE30 because camber plates for coil overs won’t work on account of the afore mentioned springhat.

My camber plates are from VMWerks a CA based SpecE30 shop. There’s other good designs tho.

I own Ireland ones and wouldn’t get them again. Built decently but there are some quirky issues (weirdo washers that you stack and can’t buy anywhere locally) that have soured me on them. Ground Control seems to make some of the best. No experience with any others.

Stay the hell away from the Vorshlag ones. You get the least camber out of them, and a couple of us have had the steering lock up when they were adjusted a little too far, which isn’t much more than half way in.

I like my UUC ones, and the Ground Controls seem popular as well.

if i may jump in…

I just got GC’s, I’ll be installing myself. I have a camber guage and can set up my camber, but what/how do I set the caster???

Thanks for your replies!

Set as much caster as you can, but make it equal on both sides. The biggest effect is better high speed stability.

#8

is that all the way back or forward?

#9

Wheel forward.

#10

will set em forward… Thanks!

Uhh, I think Jim’s answer may have been slightly confusing.

You need to set the strut mount (top) as far to the rear as possible.

Got it, Thanks Matt!
