Camber Plates

Paul did you do the hubs as well? If they let go the results are usually bad.

Jason, good catch…Yes, hubs have been replaced.

Historically I’m only right once or twice a year. It’s shame that here in the 2nd week of the year I’ve already used up half my allotment.

Guys:

This is an interesting thread, and I want to make a few comments.

First of all, I should have the re-wording of the strut tower rule finished this week. The Spec E30 Regional Series Directors and I are discussing it now.

Also, modifications are only allowed, when they are specifically mentioned in the Rules. If it’s not mentioned, it must stay as it came from the factory.

As always, we appreciate all thoughts and ideas on any subject related to Spec E30.

Carter Hunt
Spec E30 National Series Director

There has been an update to the rules. The only change in the latest is some rearrangement of the rules at the beginning of the 9.3.8 Suspension section, and some additions that hopefully better convey the intent of the camber rules:

9.3.8.18 was supposed to be deleted as well since it has been moved (unchanged) to 9.3.8.2.2

Vorshlag also has legal SpecE30 camber plates, they’ve been out since last year. Had good luck with them so far, they’re of course very well done as their other camber plates. As far as I know we were the first to use them. Of course I expect they will never be replaced nor require any servicing. I definitely recommend them and of course, we sell them.

Cheers.

Just in case anyone wasn’t paying attention (ie yours truly) DO NOT use UUC. I installed mine three races ago and the urethane bearing surround is completely shot. Just ordered my gc’s from Bimmerworld, with high hopes I can get them in before RRR. Any of you Atlanta folk up for lending a helping hand?

#48

Well it is a little late now since I just installed them this weekend, haha. I guess I will see how long they last. I bought them on the recommendation of some guys on this site including Skeen who said he never had any issues with the UUC plates.

#49

I’ve sold a bunch of them as has Harrison Motorsports and have never heard of this problem. Did you talk to UUC or whoever you bought them from to try and sort out the problem and/or make it right?

#50

Not yet. I’ll post a pic to show what happens to them. Still a pain in the *ss to have to dissamble the whole thing and put in new ones.

The culprit…

one more time

Use a photo editor to reduce the size of the pics. If that doesn’t work, email them to me and I’ll post them. Scott(at)Gress(dot)org

Yeah or just host them on photobucket, imagestation, or flickr.

You and me both… I ordered them last Wednesday and found this thread today.

To be honest, as I’m building this car for HPDEs primarily for the next couple of years, I don’t think I’ll be putting too much stress on them, unlike you fast guys.
