California Competition License School

#1

For any left coast future racers here is your next step.

I hate to be "shill" for the school but I am one of the four listed sign-ups for the school and would hate to see it cancelled, boy is that self serving :frowning:

The following is a copy of an email today from Ryan Flaherty the NASA National Chairman and SoCal Regional Director.

"Our next Competition License school is scheduled for the next event on April 14&15 at Buttonwillow. At this point, we only have 4 entries and need at least 10 to run the school. As such, if you plan register to gain your provisional racing license please reply to socalinfo@drivenasa.com and let us know that you will be attending. Please reply no later than 3PM tomorrow so we can get an accurate count of who we should expect.

The competition school is hosted by www.drivingconcepts.com and you need to have participated in HPDE4 or Time Trials to qualify. A competition prepared car is NOT required and if you are thinking about joining the competition groups this is your chance to get into the school.

Regards,

Ryan Flaherty
Regional Director
www.drivenasa.com"

I believe that BMW Club "A" and "B" level HPDE students are also encouraged to attend.

Come join the fun .

Thanks for the heads-up Chris. Do you have an email for Ryan Flaherty (beside socalinfo@drivenasa.com)?

Man, I’d love to go but I have National Guard duty during that weekend. Maybe later in the year.

FYI, I recently talked to a lady that went from HPDE3 (where I’m at) into the Driving Concepts Comp school. I realize that Ryan said that students need to have participated in HPDE4 or TT but apparently there are exceptions.

Igor,

This is all the contact information I have been able to find.

I also believe Evyan Ruiz (evyan@drivenasa.com) is the SoCal NASA registrar so she may have additional contact information for Ryan.

Hope to see you next week.

Chris,
do you have any news if the school is still on?
I registered but at that time they still did not know if it will be held.

Igor,

That’s great news.

I spoke to Judy Ray (Driving Concepts) at the BMW DE yesterday at Buttonwillow and she said there had been a few more sign-ups and that Ryan would make the call on Monday.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

For what it’s worth, I attended that school last year, and it was awesome and I’ll recommend it to everyone.
I will be attending that event, but as a "racer", I hope if everything works well.

Man I wish I could make it out. Just spent my money on a trip to Arizona and Las Vegas to film a mini-BMW Documentary. I’m hoping to get my Regional License this December along with my E30 to be Spec’d within that same week; it’s a shame I can’t do it earlier :(.

I’m jealous of anyone going to this event; I’ve attended a Driving Concepts HPDS many times, and they are AWESOME. If any of you guys get a chance, go for a ride with Judy Ray or Karl McGinn(sp?), they are both INSANE behind the wheel.

Arrgh!!

We’ve been cancelled due to a lack of sign-ups.

Sorry for getting your hopes up Igor, it would have been good to go through the school with another future Spec pilot.

Time to regroup.

Dan, I always like to have unsuspecting friends go for a ride with Judy, and then she drops the hammer:woohoo:
