How do you guys painted the rollcage? Can it be done with a spraycan or did you do it with a brush. I don’t want to have to remocve all the glass.
Any tip will be of help.
Also how do you deal with burn paint on the out side? :S

rattle can with a piece of cardboard held behind the bar so you don’t paint your roof and windows. Taping newspaper up over the glass and over anything else you don’t want to get overspray on helps.
Be sure you don’t leave your back windows vented :pinch: there will be over-spray everywhere.
if you spent any real money on your cage, take your time and do it right! I used a paint called “Rust Bullet” that I found online. It is rust proof and anice aluminum color! I used a qt. for my entire cage and did it with a brush. It would have been better applied with a sponge!
It’s tough as nails and looks good. I did it all in one sat. Afternoon and it is good!
Rustoleum (in your favoorite color), applied with a brush, does a very nice job and is easy. Two coats at least 24 hours apart are advisable.
My method, and it worked better than I thought: small foam rollers with Rustoleum of your choice. Makes doing the tubes very easy. The spots the roller won’t do I used a foam brush. It will probably take a couple of times going over it until you get all the spots, as I kept finding more bare tubing. Much less messy than spraying and better coverage. I also used the roller on the floorpans, tunnel, etc.
Then again, I’m the guy who painted his car body with a roller too.

I did the same, except the body part.
I will use POR15 for the last coat.

That Por15 seems like da bomb. It is expensive compared ti Rustolium. How much is needed t ocover the whole cage?
Thnaks for all the help on this
I’ve also wondered if the spray cans of “appliance epoxy” that are at places like Lowes would be good.

I used Krylon and it works like a champ. Use their self-etching primer and then a couple of coats of spray Krylon and you’ll be good to go.
POR-15 goes a long way, so you could probably do it with a pint, but I would get a quart, and use on the floors and other rusty spots on the car. Hardest finish of any paint I have every used. Expensive, but worth it.
