Buying a Trailer

#1

Does anyone in the SE have any experience with this Trailer outfit in Douglas, Georgia?
It looks like a good buy to my inexperienced eye. What are your thoughts? Is it a decent price? Is it missing anything you would consider crucial for transporting a race car?

Not bad. It doesn’t mention what kind of tires it has–you’ll want to make sure they’re trailer tires. Probably not an issue with the enclosed, but some open trailers will come with passenger vehicle tires that won’t hold up. Also, you’ll want to add something inside to the floor to keep the wood from soaking up all the fluids your car will inevitably leave behind.

Then there’s the other stuff you’ll decide you want later…workbench, cabinets, wench, hooks and shelves all over the place, etc. Those can certainly be added after the fact though.

Looks like a good buy to me.

It’s a good price and I’ve talked to a dealer in Raleigh(NC) area that carries Lark and they sound like good trailers. Look around, not sure where you are but Lark dealers seem to all have them at about the same price.

24’ seems to be the best size. We were using a 28’ (got a great deal on it used) and it was bigger then we needed for one car, not big enough for two cars and just right for one car and WAY TOO MUCH CRAP! 24’ should be right!

Depending on how much crap you plan to haul besides the car, consider pricing the upgraded axles. I think they are 5000# each instead of 3,500. There’s been a lot of threads on the CCA club racing digest about closed trailers and that was pretty much universal advice.

Good read before you buy. http://spece30.com/component/option,com_kunena/Itemid,86/func,view/id,21184/catid,16/Very helpful. I looked at a trailer like the one you linked. That a good deal. buy it

Doesn’t Jim Pantas sell trailers? He could probably offer some good advice.

Well, I bought it. Now I’ve got to get down to Douglas, GA to pick it up.
What would you add to the floor? Some sort of floor paint or plastic, metal, etc. covering of some sort?

Diamond plate, flooring tiles, or maybe some type of epoxy-based garage floor paint (or similar).
