Buttonwillow Oct 10th-11th Update

#1

Hey Everyone,

SpecE30 roll call for Buttonwillow looks like this so far:

Steve Ferrario
Kevin Nichols
Victor Berajas
Scott Neville
Scott Clough
Bennett McMicking
Greg Peterson
Walter Ford
Brad McClure

Just in:
Ryan G
Donny E
Carl C.

The random drawing for this weekend’s event will be a 50% discount (for up to $250 spent) on car parts or accessories from GR Parts www.gprparts.com. We’ll have the two 6th place finishers for each day win the GR Parts Awards. Steve Ferrario’s buddy owns GR Parts and has graciously agreed to help sponsor SpecE30 for this weekend’s event.

Fellow racer Kevin Nichols will also donate a bottle of excellent Central Coast wine (value $75) for this weekend’s festivities courtesy of his company: Nichols Wealth Management. Thank you Kevin!

I’m going to let Kevin decide who gets the bottle of wine award. We will also have the Evil Genius Hard Charger $100 cash award, Point Six Racing Bucks and the AIM Tire $100 random drawing award on tap too. As usual, Toyo Bucks will also be up for grabs for the top five finishers.

Kevin and Steven are hosting a Friday night BBQ for SpecE30 racers and friends. Kevin now has a garage at the track, Garage #5 located at the end of the second garage complex near the main tower. Kevin has suggested that we used his garage for the SpecE30 clubhouse and he is planning on coning off some paddock space adjacent to his garage for SpecE30 racers. We’ll have the BBQ there too. Thanks Kevin and Steve!

Remember there is an open practice day on Friday before the event.
From the website it looks like the rates for 1/2 day testing are $100 and for a full day $200. The link for more information is http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com/ The track phone # is 661-764-5333.

I haven’t seen a schedule yet for the event…I checked SoCal’s website http://socal.drivenasa.com/ but can’t locate any info on the schedule. I guess we’ll get the schedule at the track.

Edit: Schedule link: http://socal.drivenasa.com/SchedBWOct09.pdf

See you there!
Scott

I guess I should introduce myself first, my name is Matt Thiemann, long time reader, first time poster. I’m really looking forward to meeting everybody. I’ll be there both days in HPDE 1/2. I have a white '90 sedan that’s basically spec prepped except for a cage, stripped interior, and RA-1’s. I’m not sure if I’ll head up there friday night or saturday morning but if I do go friday I’ll try to stop by for the BBQ. I can’t wait to see the race!

Matt,

Allan, yourself and I can hold down the HPDE (future SpecE30) contingent this weekend. Looking forward to seeing all the Norcal group. Victor will finally have a full class to run with.

for a little pre-Race Competition…

Steve and I will be dueling his chicken against my Tri-Tip at the Friday night festivities! His chicken may qualify well… but at the checkered flag, the TT should be victorious!

Bring your appetite!

PS Victor, we are all looking for you to school us on the BW line.

PSS Steve and I are bringing over 3 guys who are interested in joining the E30 ranks, one is and old car racer and two are current Karters, please help us make them feel welcome.

Cheers!

Fun Weekend thanks guys! Sorry to see two more cars come away injured. I hope they are back for infineon. The Championship appears to have shaped up for a Photo Finish! Donnie must have stayed home to make it interesting.

Sounds like you all enjoyed the track and perhaps we can go back again. I personally enjoy a 2 hour drive over the 5 and 7 hour trips I usually must make. You Nor Cal guys are worth it though! Hopefully the SoCal guys have seen how much fun this series can be and will get themselves hooked up.

See you all next month. Cheers!
