Brake setup for autox

#1

I am slowly building my 89 325 for se30 but for this summer i will be doing mostly autoX and maybe a track day or two.

I just got 4 new rotors and i am thinking about what brake pad compound i want to run.

I have heard great things about the hawk HP+ pads for street and autoX use.

Has anyone had any experience with these pads and would they hold up for my first track day?

I am also going to order some SS brake lines with the DOT outer shell and some good brake fluid.

any thoughts on the topic would be appreciated

Thanks

I think the Hawk HP+ is a good option. In fact, I use them on some tracks for the rear during race events. I would also check out the Porterfield R4-S pads. VAC motorsports sells them.

HP+ pads would be good for AutoX and probably fine for a DE, depending on your skill level and experience. They are rather noisy on the street, but have good cold bite.

I have run HP Plus pads on the front of my E46 328 for the past few years at HPDEs and have had good luck with them. Good stopping power and little fade. They should be good for the lighter E30. I wouldn’t run them on the street though due to really heavy, black, brake dust that is nearly impossible to get off the wheels.

I run ATE Super Blue fluid in the E46 and will put it in the E30 I’m building.

I placed an order today with our friends over at factory 3 performance. I decided to go with HP+ pads front and rear. I am not too worried about the dust and noise so long as they preform well.

now i get to start saving up for the spec shocks, springs and CC plates

Thanks for the input

Just an update on the build

I removed the power steering this weekend, i am running the two lines from the rack up to the stock ps res.

I also removed the a/c compressor, and associated parts. all that is left is the condenser and evaporator. I also removed the brakes and am in the process of cleaning all the parts for re assembly with my new rotors pads and lines.

i will be weighing all the parts i removed this week so i can post the weights for any one who is interested.

One question… does anyone have an easy solution for eliminating broken fog lights. I know they make an elimination kit but i am trying to avoid any unnecessary cost.

That’s where you place the inlets for the brake cooling ducts.
