Brake problems

#1

Took the car in today for an alignment, and while he had it I had him put on some new pads and flush the brake fluid.

So when I went to pick it up he was just about to bleed the brakes. Heres the problem no pressure to the front left. He could spin the rotor while the brake pedal was down. The SS line and caliper checked out. Any ideas where to look between the master clyinder and the brake line that might be mucked up.

Help!!!

After MC there is proportioning valve and ABS (and ofcourse brake lines) before it goes to the caliper?
How do you know that caliper checked out (what did you do to determine that)?

we took the brake line off and tried to bleed it and still could not get any fluid to come out. so must be further up the line. Just assumed the caliper was good except the fact it was getting no fluid.

The first 2 times we pumped up the brakes fluid came out, after that nothing.

you could try disconnecting appropriate line on ABS and go from there (see if the fluid comes out)

ABS pump could be clogged up.

Found one locally. Will be putting it in this afternoon.

Thanks though.

is this a common problem on e30’s?

#9

not really but it is probably caused by lack of maintenance(never flushing the brakes)

I blame the previous owner:whistle:

I had similar problems on my car due to my own lazy lack of maintenance before I was running the car on the track. I got most of the gunk cleaned out but I have to flush again.

Just for shits and giggles I asked the guy at the auto parts store what a new ABS hydraulic pump would cost.

$1,100.00 plus tax no shit.

I bought my car for $850

oh by the way just for shits and giggles I called BMW to see what they wanted for this pump.

$2,005.00 plus tax

They better be made out of gold.
