Brake lights not working

#1

Well, not all of them. The third light is working. where should I start? Any relation to the blinkers?
Actually none of the rear lights work. Fuse? Ground cable?

#2

I would first check light bulbs, then ground, as well as "relay" located in the trunk (black rectangular box; located by amp if it was an "is" model") and work backwards… (fuse, brake pedal switch, etc)

Igor

I won’t consider the pedal switch since the third light works, right?
Bulbs are good.

I just had this problem, have you removed the car amplifier in the left rear of the trunk? Because there is a connector that needs to stay plugged in to complete the circuit. It is a little black box lookng thing. If you have thrown it out you will have to figure out which wires to jump.

Way, I think Jack at Elephant Motorsports might have some extras from parts cars you might try contacting him. He will know what you are talking about because he gave me the one of his E30 M3 this weekend.

Yeah, if he only unplugged it, he’s ahead of me. I cut mine out because it was attached to the AMP and so I thought it was part of the rdaio system and I chopped it. Then, when I figured out that it wasn’t really part of the AMP, I had to splice it back in. Later, I found out that I could have just used the wiring schematic to bypass it since it’s part of the overhead console warning system.

OK, so I can bypass it, but I found the box that says something like "bulb controller" in german.
So, without that box the rear light don’t work at all. We should make a sticky in the car preparation forum with this and all the do’s and dont’s.
