Brake Booster Delete legal?

#1

Hey guys,

I don’t see anything specifically in the rules or on this forum.

Is it legal to put in a brake booster delete kit?

Thanks!!

No

The catch-all…

1.3. Only modifications specifically authorized are allowed; and competitive adjustments are not allowed. Other than the modifications specifically allowed in these Rules, every part of the car must remain as it came from the factory.

Ok, thanks. It seemed cheaper than trying to get a good brake booster. Oh well.

NAPA is a good source for a reman booster, a bit over $100 as I recall. If the booster is bad, also replace the master cylinder with a new, not rebuilt, part. The most common cause of a failed booster is a leaking master cylinder that allows brake fluid to reach the diaphragm in the booster.

Note that the make of the booster and the master cylinder must match. Meaning that a Girling booster needs a Girling MC, and vice versa. It doesn’t which you use as long as they match.
