Guys, I needed to order some parts from the dealer. I figured I’d call Sterling BMW, located in Sterling VA. (outside DC) I spoke to on of there parts personal and he was very helpful. They even shipped the parts for free to me. He called me yesterday to tell me they were on the way. It was a small order but here is there info. http://www.bmwofsterling.com/ and parts dept link http://www.bmwofsterling.com/Department-Parts.aspx
Another good resource is this free online ETK http://www.realoem.com/bmw/
Its pretty fast and has some prices for a benchmark.
I have been using this quite a bit for reference, especially since my bmw needs alot of missing nuts, washers, etc.
BMW Parts from the dealer
RealOEM is good for (most) part numbers and exploded diagrams, but the prices are unrealistic (which is noted in the disclaimer on their front page).
The best prices I’ve found for new/new-old-stock factory parts can be found at Tischer BMW in Maryland (with a BMWCCA discount) or from PacificBMW.com (they don’t require a BMWCCA membership). Both will give you the part at essentially dealer cost.
We can get any factory part (as long as it’s not NLA) probably to you for better pricing than you’re getting from your dealer, even if they offer you a CCA or other discount. Feel free to email or call us and we’re happy to see what we can do for you.
Having a copy of the ETK on your computer is even better, should be pretty easy to find one. Check w/a dealer (or us). This way you don’t have to worry about being online! I have an ETK on every computer I use. Plus the ETK has some neat features like creating parts lists which are then easy to print/send to your parts source. You can also search areas which are not going to be available with RealOEM. The ETK is one of the most valuable tools I own for BMW work!
Jack where can I get a copy of the ETK you refer to in your post? I use RealOEM but there are some things it just does not show.
