BMW CCA Club Race: Road Atlanta February 20/21 201

#1

If any of you locals are looking for something to do this weekend, please come out to Road Atlanta and hang out for the VDCA/Peachtree race weekend. This will be a joint event between VDCA, the vintage racing organization, and BMW CCA.

So far, we’ve got a field of about 26 cars for the club race, including 5 Spece30 competitors:

Palacio, Eric
Tower, Jason
Buckett, John
Wooten, Shaun
Taylor, Chuck

Session times on Saturday:
Practice 9:00
Qualify 11:25
Race 2:50

Sunday:
P/Q/R 9:35 / 12:00 / 2:30

Come on out and hang with us!

i’ve never been to RA before, will anyone be running on friday that i can get a ride along to learn the track a bit before driving on sat?

#3

My understanding is that track is rented Friday for a private test session (we can’t even get in the gate until 5) so no demo rides available.

thanks guys!

You guys aren’t looking at the super-secret CCA Racers-Only information packet that was emailed to the racers…And Dave White! (5 minutes ago)

Thanks for hooking brother Dave up with the particulars.

And, we can all celebrate the fact that in 2010, quiet hours at Road Atlanta have indeed been shortened slightly, now from 10-12.

Don’t ask too many questions though about how we get cars to the grid for qualifying that starts at 12:00. The big boys have people to push their cars, right?

RP[/quote]Correct. VDCA is handling that, and I think the charge for non-participants is $15 if you want to chow down. I’m not involved with that at all.

i see what you did there

lol!

doesnt everyone?

shouldnt be a big issue since it’s a fairly small field and qualifying is 30 minutes long…there should be plenty of time and room to get get some fliers in without having to get to grid early…

Had a really great race with Eric Palacio on Saturday. We swapped positions every lap in the middle part of the race. 7 official position changes plus a few more that swapped back before getting to the line.

Hands down the most fun/intense race I’ve had. If you get a chance to watch all 40 mins it is no-stop passing back and forth and clean racing from the both of us.

Dad and Jason had a great battle on Sunday as well and congrats to Shaun for his first race weekend.

Chuck, Eric, great race on Saturday!
Congratulations to Chuck for the race win.

Can ya’ll post the results for both days?

Thanks, again, for providing the entertainment on Saturday. Lap times of 146 with lame engines means that these two cars are at the front of the NASA pack for the upcomming March race.

my write-up and videos from last weekend: http://racing.cerient.net/?p=151

although this was my first time at RA i can’t say i’m terribly happy with my laps, i’m gonna have to dig deep just to keep the leaders in sight come march.
