you can watch the forums at www.improvedtouring.com and they sometimes come up there.
http://www.on-trackperformance.com/amb_transponders.htm
has them for $315 shipping included.
when I was looking around earlier this year, some people sent me these leads but I didn’t follow them up because I found one on the BMW Club Racing list.

Dan,
Im a PCA member and need one too (though I dont race w/ them). If you can’t find one anywhere cheaper, I can order a pair from PCA.
As my build budget continues to morph (read "grow"), can someone clarify the need for a transponder? I assume these are involved in lap times for the cars, but are different than a hot lap system? Are they required, or just "nice to have?"
Thanks,
Sasha
Sasha,
Yep…if your goint to race then a transponder is a requirment. AMB is the xponder to use.
NASA charges $310 for one or there are various suppliers that also sell them. Ebay might have them too.
Bottom line is that your going to pay $295-$315 so there’s not any real savings to be had on a xponder. My advice, Just buy one new from NASA.

Stephen, I’m gonna take you up on your offer… if you have a Paypal account, send me the email address and the amount that I’ll owe you for a direct powered TranX260.
Thanks.
I always check e-bay for things like this:
Item number: 4601607134
I have no affiliation
I suggest you all coordinate, instead of out-bidding each other.

Vic, thanks for the heads-up, but I prefer the 12v-powered over the rechargeable transponder – which seems to be all that’s come up on eBay over the last month.

I checked with the Florida region SCCA guys and they will sell a wired transponder for $277+$5 shipping. Full details are at http://www.floridaregionscca.com/transponders.htm
I’d offer to buy them for non-scca members but it looks like they’ll only let you buy one for your car (they ask for member number and car details on the form) and I need to buy one myself. Should be lots of scca racers in various regions who could buy them for you.
cheers,
