This just in, from National by way of Pantas. Many of you have seen the pictures of Ron Harness’s rollover crunch recently in the Norcal forum. Glad to hear he’s alright, though his car is toast.
His battery came loose in the rollover. The Norcal guys are now mandating some form of supplemental restraint for the battery. Southeast will follow their lead. Many of you may already have something like this, but if you don’t, please fabricate this or something like it before your next event.
The last thing we need when things go to crap is the battery flopping around back there threatening to make a bad situation worse.

Attached is a photo of what a positive hold down looks like. The parts for
this can be found at your local hardwared store for less than $10. I bought
some threaded rod, nylock nuts, fender washers and some steel flat stock.
The threaded rod go through the floor board beneath the plastic battery tray
and are secured with fender washers and nylock nuts
