Guys,
I’ve been trying to find a weatherproof 4-post battery disconnect switch. The one I currently am running is the key type, which is problematic and unreliable. I am going to swap it out to a lever switch style but I want a weatherproof one.
I couldn’t find a weatherproof 4 post switch, so I contacted Longacre Racing and they said the could make a batch of them if anyone is interested. Cost is $46.15 plus postage. The person to contact is Misty, their toll free number is 1-800-423-3110. Mention my name (Lance Richert) and she’ll know what you are talking about. You would ask for a part #45785 Weatherproofed.
Longacre already have a weatherproof 2 pole switch, which they say was originally intended for dirt track racers who literally pressure wash thier cars after races to clean them inside and out. They assumed all of us road racers had our switches inside the cabin.
Here’s their page, though the 4-post weatherproof obviously is not shown here.

She can take in orders until next Wednesday, May 2 then they will make the switches up.
The main posts kill the battery. The second posts kill the power between the alternator and coil.
At least on all of the E30s we race up here in Seattle, the disconnect switch is located on the cowling just below the front windshield. This way, even if the car is on its roof, a turnworker might still be able to access the switch. We get a lot of rain up here, so as a group we are looking for a weatherproof switch.
No affiliation, etc.
cheers,
Lance Richert
A link to my car: the switch is barely visible, red, just under the passenger wiper.
