Everyone cross their fingers that the John Deer #168 is up for the weekend. After the power issues I had at Roebling I was unable to find anything apparant. I’ve had to resort to letting someone that knows what they’re doing look at the car. No prognoses yet. Hopefully she’ll be up for the weekend.

So…ummmm…if I am reading the schedule correctly, the Great Pumpkin Run on Sunday is going to include all Thunder and Lightning cars on the track at the same time for an hour long race!!!

Bill, yep one big, long, happy, no-points (the season is over after Saturday’s race) event with all cars. No practise, qualifing will likely be a carryover from the previous day. Watch your rearview mirror and you’ll be okay.

We did it at rockingham at it wasn’t too bad. The groups were both pretty small so I’m not sure how this field matches up.
"Most" of the Thunder group goes by pretty quick, you get a few sad GTS2 guys that are so happy to ‘race’ anyone that they like to get in the middle of class battles.
That to me was more annoying then having a Nascar rip by 50 mph faster then you.
My opinion, not that anyone asked for it but you’re going to get it anyway, is that it’s a good idea. It seems a little intimidating at first, but you can learn so much. The thing to remember is that this isn’t a points race and it doesn’t count, so keep it on the pavement and watch your mirrors. This can be a great learning opportunity for everyone involved and since it’s just a race for fun, the racers from both groups tend to respect each other. It’s work out great at Rockingham in the past and it’s been a blast, so I’m looking forward to it.
Oh, and by the way, no one is allowed to take Skeen on any rides around the track, even if you’re asking for help. Skeen doesn’t need any more track time there than what he’s allowed which is practice, qualifying, and the race. It’s coming down to this race between me and him and I don’t want him having any more advantages. I’ll be happy to take his place in the car and give pointers if someone wants help.

You’ll have to watch your mirror, but the good thing is that the Thunder guys are usually timid when passing. They’ll wait to motor by out of a corner rather than dive bomb you in a braking zone when you’re not looking. There are exceptions, but it worked out fine at Rockingham and with NASA-MA at VIR.

No no, we’re not helping Skeen learn the track. He can pick it up fast enough on his own.

Okay, you’re the boss!
I still haven’t decided if I am doing the sunday race yet either. I know it worked at Rockingham, but Braber and Rockingham are not even close to being similar. barber doesn’t have a half mile of banked race race track for Big horsepower cars to get by easily. I will be watching the Thunder race on Sat. to see what happens with them. I don’t want to spend my off season doing body work. I need to build a motor;)
