Autobahn - July 9/10

Who’s attending this race?

I am tring to arrange a trip back “home” to Chicago for this weekend for a family trip, many of my closest friends, Domont, Talbot and Henderson are planning on running, so I’ll be there to see everyone. So I’m interested in saying ho to my Midwest SE30 counterparts if you’ll be there. B)

My hunch is there won’t be any Spec E30s there since this is not a cross over event with Great Lakes.

#3

Awe bummer… I might be in the Enduro Friday in a S944 (unlikely though) but I should be there in my friends old SSB Neon with the donoughts still on the doors from it’s last race in 1999!

LOL

I will be there doing de3 in my e30. My brother will be there with his wifes mini and he is a bmw master tech.

What is the camping situation at this track. I’m hoping I can pitch a tent next to my car without paying any extra?

Got signed off from DE3 to 4 this weekend. I finally got my iq3 logger dash mostly worked out. I installed a vdo OP sender last week and I was down to 7 psi at corner 3 as well as being dangerously low through all of the corners. Times were in the low 149 range with the set of cycled out R6 take-offs I was donated until a bolt or rivet ended the life of my front left. I drove my sister-in-laws mini for my last 2 runs and check ride. Including mine I only saw 4 e30s 1 in de 1/2, one in gts2, and an m3 in gts5.

Now that I looked at the lap records for se30 and tte I wish I hadn’t posted that I was at 149. The tires were worn out and I’m definitely under 140 hp at the wheels but 8 seconds seems pretty bad. Whats the normal lap time range for se30 here?

#7

Thats not horrible. Your hp deficit is going to be worth around 1-1.5 seconds. Take off R6s are going to be pretty horrible grip wise. I would say anything under 1:44 is pretty good for a lap time (with good toyos and around 150 power). I did a 1:40 something in the old red car I sold but it was 80lbs under the old weight limit or 30lbs under the new limit of 2700. Video is here

Autobahn south is actually a very technical track and there is a lot of hidden time there.

My buddy Brian Domont did a 1:40 in SM Sunday… I think an SE30 field would be happy at 1:45-1:42 there…

It is a good track, T1 and T5 hold a lot of time and T7 seems to be a make or brake of lap times. Like Simon says - technical track…

Simon, I spoke to Tom Tiede - he’s interested in switching to SE30, maybe we can work on him…

Tom is a good friend and a good driver, I’ve been working on him too. He would be perfect for SE30 as he is on a budget and has been racing E30’s for quite sometime. Unfortunately his current E30 is quite far gone but he is so uncompetitive in GTS2 (unless it rains) I think he would like SE30 so much more. Good to hear he is thinking about it, I’ll have to reach out to him and see what he is thinking.
