Art of Road Racing -- 30 Jan 2011, Thunderhill

#1

This is the third year for this program. It is like no other, and is a great opportunity to improve your racing, from the not yet licensed rookie to the experienced racer that is looking for their first podium.

This year we are happy to have E30 racer Greg Peterson instructing. Ideally, we like to give students instructors from within their own class since they know the nuances of the car, class, and racing culture. So we are still recruiting additional E30 instructors to fill the full demand.

Full info at: www.ArtOfRoadRacing.com.

Registration is now open (live just today!) We recommend that you register early, as instructors and space are limited, and we expect to sell out. Registration closes January 3rd.

The Art of Road Racing
School of race craft
January 30, 2011
Thunderhill Raceway

Dedicated to the Art of Road Racing, our focus is on race craft: driving in close proximity, off- line, and passing under braking. While pace is necessary, it’s these battle skills that distinguish the successful road racer.

Three run groups:
A. Introduction to race craft
B. Developing your race craft
C. Open/guided test

Personal instruction by top racers in your class
Track time: 2+ hours
Classroom lectures

Lots of good info on the web site. Post additional questions here, or Email ArtOfRoadRacing@gmail.com. Please spread the word to other racers/rookies, E30 or otherwise. We look forward to seeing you in January!

The Art of Road Racing is happy to announce that E30 racers Scott Clough and Gary Rieger (congrats on that championship, Gary!) have signed on to instruct this year. So with Scott, Gary, and Greg all instructing, this year will be a great opportunity to learn from the top racers in your E30 class.

Because we assign instructors based on the student history and need, we can serve a range of students, from the rooking seeking a license in 2011, to the advanced racer that is looking for their first podium finish. If you have questions, or would like to discuss your history and goals, please Email Juan at ArtOfRoadRacing@gmail.com.

Also, please spread the word and let others know about the Art of Road Racing! This is a truly unique school of race craft for club racers by club racers.

Thanks!

I signed up as a student to get all of Scott and Greg’s secrets. Also, I gotta shake off the cobwebs somehow…

Awesome Adam! And we are sharing our secrets but only to those who come! Gary’s tricks will be reviled as well;)

Hello everyone,

Some important updates for you if you are considering signing up
for our Race Craft Clinic at Thunderhill on Jan 30:

  1. In November we reached the 50% point toward our quota of student
entries. So if you are planning to attend, and have not yet completed
registration, consider registering soon to secure your spot.
    Registration page here:

http://www.artofroadracing.com/ART2011/Register.html

  1. I have complied a list of track days available between now and our
Jan 30th date. These are great for seat time before our clinic. You
will get the most from the clinic if you are up to speed so you can
concentrate on the race craft that we teach. Look here for the list:

http://www.artofroadracing.com/ART2011/Warm_up.html

  1. We have lined up some great instructors for you from the top of the
field. Here are some names you are sure to recognize (organized by
class) Darin Polsley, David McAnaney, David Vodden, Mark Drennan,
Randy Evans, Laura Thomas, Dan Mairani, Gary Rieger, Scott Clough,
Greg Peterson, Mike Smith, Rick Lofgren, and David Ray. This is not a
complete list, as we are still recruiting instructors based on student
needs (mostly racing class) and number of entries.

  2. We are still trying to get the word out. So please let your racing
circle know about the clinic. Also, we love hearing from buddies that
want to run together in a sparring group. So get your three car group
    together and let us know.

If you are planning to attend, but can’t complete the registration
yet, please Email me so I know your intent and I’ll put you on my
short-short list for critical notifications. I really want to make
sure everyone is accommodated.

And don’t hesitate to Email if you have any questions. I look forward
to the possibility of seeing you in January!

Hey everyone,

We are 80% booked as of today, and that has exposed a glitch in the payment system. If you see that the HOD system indicates that B group is sold out, but A group is not, then just select A group. It doesn’t matter, as I use your student application to place you. If both say sold out, that probably means that we are at quota. In that case Email me, and I’ll see what I can do about squeezing you in IF there is an available gap in the assignments.

Thanks!

Glitch should be fixed now and B group should once again be available (until we sell out.) Sorry for any inconvenience. Thanks! -Juan

#8

We have reached our quota and closed open enrollment for student groups A and B. However, we may still have a spot for you, depending on your experience and the gaps in the assignments. So if you are still interested, Email me and I’ll try to fit you in.

Thanks!

Sunday’s weather looks to be wet, It doesn’t look like it will be a lot but its rain up to .05in per hour at times. It’s a 12 hour event with good weather on both sides so it’s all about timing. This is looking two weeks out so things could change, will keep you posted!

Now a 15.6-26.9% chance of showers are back in the forecast, but the timing looks to be mostly overnight Saturday and into the early morning hours of Sunday, letting up around 6am, then cloudy and cool. Rain totals should be less than 1/2 inch. For you Saturday guys, cloudy and cool is on tap…
