Anyone own a plasma cutter I can borrow?

#1

I’m hatching a plot to cut the cage out of Jim Levie’s much loved #96 so it can go into a theoretical Lemons car.

i fear the outcome of this thread

Ssshhhh! I’m thinking we should pool money together to buy a plasma to loan to Ranger. If everyone puts in $10… How much do you pay to go to a movie?

Right now the odds are even between ‘setting self on fire’ vs. ‘losing a finger’.

Longer odds available on ‘losing entire hand’ or ‘burning down a city block’.

What’s the definition of “city block” in Huntsville, Alabama?

Just kidding, Levie. I love Alabama. If it weren’t for Alabama girls I probably never woulda gotten laid in college.

Dibs on the oil pressure corrective hardware.

edit - I’d say dibs on all the video stuff, but I don’t think my car has enough juice to power all that.

Craig - People pay $50 for pay-per-view all the time. This should EASILY be worth that!

What could possibly go wrong? Ranger doesn’t have things go wrong with automotive projects.

I’m in for $20 if I can come witness said removal from the #96.

I can get to Jim’s house from mine in <30 min. Just let me know when. Should I bring a fire extinguisher? We can’t burn down a city block in Huntsville. We don’t have any to spare.

Not to put a damper on everyone’s anticipation, but I’ll be the one wielding the plasma cutter. The easiest way to cut out a welded in cage is to cut around where the feet are welded to the car and the clean up the feet later. I can do that with my cutting torch, but it is cleaner and faster to do the job with a plasma cutter.

But I gotta agree, watching Scott do this would be amusing… Hmm, I’ve got a video camera and know how to upload.

If a thread like this doesn’t bring a tear to your eye, your heart is made of stone.

I gotta work on my word choice so I can make my posts more pompous. I’m getting my ass kicked here.

jim, your spoiling all the fun doing this yourself… def let scott have a go at it!! we await a detailed incident report with bated breath!

Now that sounds like a great idea and would make everyone happy.

I have a plasma cutter - but it is 9hrs away in Charlotte…

Actually since it is Scott I’d say just use a torch, it’d be much more hilarious when he trips over the hoses, sets the trees, grass, etc on fire and then realizes that the car is surrounded by a ring of fire…then reaches for a fire extinguisher, pulls the pin and poof! nothing comes out!!! the look on his face would be priceless…

make sure you video tape the whole thing! :silly:

The “event” will be taped, regardless of what method is used. I’m leaning toward a cutting torch as that promises to be more dramatic. With a little luck, Scott will give the 96 a “viking funeral”!
